Fun read, John. I only knew bits and pieces of that history. I was touring as the backline guy through a lot of those years. I remember when they asked you to come play with them in Spain (although I feel like you did some shows just prior to that). I wish I could catch one of these shows coming up. Atlanta is a possibility but not 100%. I’ll def say hello if I make it.
Of course I remember! Our overlap was brief but my memory is sharp. Those were truly crazy times…maybe I’ll write about it in more detail later. And yes I did a few TV and promo things before the Spain tour.
I met her a few times on tour. Back then Evan was quite a celebrity magnet, some strange encounters. Found out who the hardest partying models were, for one.
I love(d) the Lemonheads - not only for their music but also because they did introduce me to the music of all those connected - including Antenna and Velodeluxe, Blake Babies, Godstar, Smudge, Fuzzy, JH3 - there was so much connection and music.
All eyes were on Seattle, so I was blissfully unaware of all the various interconnections of the Boston alt-rock illuminati (Blakes/Lemonheads/Breeders/Belly/JH3/Buffalo Tom/Dinosaur Jr/etc.) until the past 10 years or so. I'm sure there are lots of mixed emotions about avoiding the intensity of a Seattle-ish spotlight glare and label feeding frenzy, but it seems all of you have landed on your feet magnificently and continue release substantive work! I can only imagine the comradery of emerging from those particular trenches.
I hope they play my drug buddy. 64 year old drummer here. Kick add opening. Found this stack by accident. I’ll be back. Enjoyed your writing!
Meant kick ass that you’re doing an opener for them. Rock on Garth.
Yeah, man, Mi Familia.

I was introduced to Kylie Minogue by Evan backstage at a Big Day Out festival in Australia. Bizarre moment, but they were both lovely, kind a polite.
